The sadest day of my life

So I got an email saying that Vampire Weekend was coming into town in April and it was basically the best news ever. Theyre coming to play at stubbs the 24th and the 25th. Sense theyre playing two days in a row I thought of course I can easily get tickets. Boy was I wrong.. Apparently according to one of my friends both days are already sold out.

The grey album

I don't really tend to like mash ups very much just cause I usually like the original song better. For the grey album I liked it a lot better though. I think its sense usually when I listen to anything by jay-z I get bored half way through but the mix of it with the beatles turned out really awesome.

Since being in this class

Since being in History of Rock ive started listening to different music kinda. I wouldnt say my music choice changed i just started listening to more than just a single by a certain person. I started "buying" more albums and listening to the whole thing all the way through which in my mind has improved my music choices.

The white album

The white album (or what we have listened to so far) was a good album but it is exactly what you said, a hot mess. I didnt feel like the songs went together very well but they were all good songs. The Beatles do sound older and more mature now.

Zep 1

I really liked Zep 1. When the songs began i wasnt sure if i was going to like it or if i would get tired of it after awhile but i enjoyed the whole thing. It was a good change from listening to the beatles. Im looking forward to actually listening to all of Zep 2 as well.

Magical Mystery Tour

I think listening to more and more beatles albums is making me like them more. At the beginning I definitely liked them but with each album and as they write different types of songs I start to like them more. I like their voices more now.

Blogs

I for some reason started always forgetting to do the blogs. Its not because im busy or anything cause frankly im probably home more Fridays than not. Its not because theyre hard to do either. I just forget to sit down and do them.

Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club

This album is probably my favorite. I really like the first few albums but this one just sounds better to me. The first couple of albums' songs are only about girls and feel kind of repetitive to me. In this album the songs aren't only about that. I guess since they were on my drugs they had more things to write about.

Country music

So i was one of those people that just hated country music cause i thought it was terrible and basically just crap. Alot of my friends mostly listen to country so last year when they were driving me around we would listen to country. Then the morning show i listen to every morning, the bobby bones show, switched to KASE 101 so i started listening to it in the morning. Basically both those events combined made me realize its not that bad but its still not my favorite.

White girl CD

So my friend made me a new CD and its what i would consider my " white girl CD." its basically a bunch of songs that i can sing along to and jam out. If im gonna be honest im probably the whitest black girl some people have ever met and this CD is exactly what i wanted. it has songs like Leave by jesse mccartney and some stuff by hilary duff.  its an amazing CD

free will vs. destiny

the day we talked about this my brain was definitely in a different place and my thought were not coming together very well. Now that ive had time to really think about it i think im a spectrum person, and i do consider myself to be religious. the reason i think its spectrum is because when i was thinking about personal experiences my life just seemed to be half and half. I was adopted when i was three and a half and before that basically had a terrible life. My birth mom was on drugs and would disappear for weeks at a time and leave me with my grandma. i was adopted into my birth moms sisters family and now have 4 older brothers and two stable parents. I think it was my "destiny" to be adopted and live with a caring family, but i think it is free will to act the way i do even though my childhood wasnt so great. I choose to not get involved with drugs and be associated with them.

Help

I can honestly say i watched the movie both times and tried to understand but i honestly couldnt explain half the things going on. I could obviously tell you the plot but after that there isnt much for me to tell. I didnt think it was so terrible like everyone else said but i definetly didnt understand it.

The Who

I had only really ever heard about The Who because my parents are literally obsessed with CSI and i mean every single one of the CSI shows. I grew up watching CSI: Miami the most probably since it wasnt as gross as the other ones. Listening to them in class I definetly like their other songs better than the theme songs. The theme songs are extremely catchy and all but i guess growing up hearing those songs every single Sunday, Thursday, and i think Monday was enough for me.

acl withdrawls

Lately all ive been listening to is bands i saw at ACL. Surprisingly they havent gotten old yet and im still obsessed with them. I have become even more in love with vampire weekend and think they are actually very talented. Before i saw them live i thought they were alright but theyre songs were the repetitive kinda catchy. After seeing them lived i realized they are really amazing live and it made me like them more.

What my definition of rock is

Rock is definetly a word that people like to try to describe and have it be a black and white picture, but rock is not something that you can describe be "right" its about opinion. In my opinion rock is the type of music people want to jump around and run to. Where as pop is what you want to dance to. They both get people excited but rock isnt as bubbly.

The Beatles Anthopology

I thought watching that episode about the Beatles was interesting. It was cool to hear about how they got started. I didnt know that they didnt originally start out together as a band. I liked how it had solo interviews with each of the members so they could tell their verson of certain events of things that happened during their years starting the band.

ACL Concerts

My favorite concerts during ACL where ( in order) Vampire Weekend, Kendrick Lamar, Portugal the Man, Fun, and Paper Diamond. Vampire Weekend was my definete favorite because I have really liked them for awhile and was super excited for the concert. They didnt dissappoint. They came on stage and first off the lead singer was wearing a green jumpsuit. They had a mirror hanging down and two column things. They were really good performers and sounded amazing live. They also played mostly theyre new songs from their album except for the first and like the last song. When they started playing Step i was like those girls from the beatles documentary i definetly almost peed myself or started crying. Kendrick Lamar was good because he did a good job of getting the crowd excited and everyone there was just super excited and was going crazy. One girl that I know was talking about how he doesnt have talent cause all he did was come on stage and cuss alot. I think thats ridiculous because he came out multiple times and just freestyled and it was so good. Portugal the man was good because they played basically the entire time and inly took one break and it was for like 30 seconds. They also played Purple Yellow Red and Blue twice which is my favorite by them. I wasnt actually looking forward to fun but when they started i became obsessed with them. The singer went crazy and was such a good performer. His voice was really good live too. I liked Paper Diamond because i didnt know who he was before but when i went to the concert it was just tons of fun.

a hard days night

Going into a hard days night I thought i was gonna hate it because i didnt think monty python funny at all. I thought it was just kinda stupid but i probably didnt understand alot of what was happening cause im not that much of a deep thinker when im watching things. I was completly wrong though. I actually understood a lot of the jokes in the movie and really enjoyed it.

Avicii- Wake me up

I first heard of this song when for the first time in like years i was actually listening to the radio. Since this song started getting slightly popular Avicii has released alot more songs that are I think are equally as good. After we listened to the whole beatles album i decided to get on spotify and listen to the rest of Avicii's songs just for fun. In my opinion is was a good album and Avicii will probably be playing at ACL or a music festival like it in the next few years.

Vampire Weekend

In my mind Vampire Weekend has never been that good but i really like them for some odd reason. I was listening to all the bands i was planning on seeing at ACL and started to listen to Vampire Weekend's new album alittle bit. I didnt love any of the songs but one song i would actually consider purchasing is Step. I thought it stood out among the other songs and wasnt as repetitive but just as catchy as the others.

The Beatles covers

If i was a musician and made songs im not sure i wouldnt want the beatles to cover my songs. Theyre really good and i wouldnt want them to play my song better than me. Which in most cases is probably true. I mean of course them covering the songs would make you money and probably bring you alittle fame but the song might be better by them.

Please Please me

Listening to Please Please Me wasnt as bad as i thought it was gunna be. I like the beatles and i thought listening to a whole album straight would be hell. It actually went really fast and was fun to just listen.

Darwin Deez

Also on that CD my friend made was the song Bad Day by Darwin Deez. Im gonna start of by saying this song is freaking weird. When i first listened to it I didnt understand how my friend could like it and why she would put it on the CD thinking i would like it. Then I listened to it for the 2nd time. Now i think iits an amazing song. I thought it was weird because this guy definetly has a different singing style that just kinda sounds bad at first but after you listen to it a couple times all the way through its pretty awesome.

Robert Delong

Since I got my license ive been asking alot of my friends to make me CDs for my car for me to listen to while im driving cause i hate having to plug in my phone and then search for a song. My friend that made the CD with songs by Max Frost also made me a new one 2 weeks ago with the song Global Concepts by Robert Delong. Since then ive been playing it on repeat whenever im in the car. Its kinda a technoy song and i usually dont listen to that but i really like it.

Max Frost

I started listening to Max Frost after my friend from church made me a CD and a few off his songs were on it. Im not obsessed with him but i think hes really talented. I saw him at blue on the green and he was so good live. If someone isnt good live but has really good songs i still tend to not listen to them as much cause its just kinda fake.

The Beatles

I was never a huge beatles fan. Dont get me wrong some of their songs are AMMMAAZZINNNGG but i was never loosing my mind over them. I really thought the documentary we watched was interesting though. I honestly dont think anyone else in the music industry wi;; ever have that much influence over people. i cant get that 1/3 out of my head!

What i listen to...

Im one of those people that what i listen to depends a lot on what mood im in. If im driving i tend to listen to rap because i think its more fun to listen to in the car. Sometimes i listen to random girly pop songs just so i can sing along and no one can hear me to judge me.

What we have been listening to...

The main person that we listened to that sticks out in my mind is Jerry Lee Lewis. I dont understand how people liked him because after watching one music video i was completly creeped out. Whole Lotta Shakin Goin On was definetly a good song but after seeing how weird he was it made me not want to listen to it anymore.

My Music Life

In my life music doesnt play a giant role but it definetly has a roll. I listen to music alot but I'm not super passionate about music. Im the only one in my family that doesnt play an instrument cause im not talented in that area. I do really enjoy going to concerts though and im crazy excited to go to ACL in october!
